The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), and Boko haram planned a heavy attack on some states in Nigeria, this includes Lagos, Kudana, Kogi, Katsina, and Zamfara as well as the federal Capital Territory (Abuja).

This was reported by PUNCH early hours of today. According to them, security agencies had got a security report that ISWAP and Boko Haram planned to attack Lagos, Kaduna, Kogi, Katsina, and Zamfara states as well as the  Federal Capital Territory.

As we all know, the issue of terrorism has thrown Nigeria into another dimension now. The level of insecurity in the country is so alarming. Every day we hear about issues like Kidnapping, Banditry, herdsmen attack, and many more.

According to the source, there was a leaked memo from the headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), which alerted state commands to the planned attacks.

However, during contact with Shola Odumosu, the NSCDC spokesman, he said the memo did not originate from the security agencies. Notwithstanding, the state commandant, who confirmed the memo, said that security officials had been directed to keep mum over it in order not to cause panic.

Daily Post also reported that the intelligence shows that Boko-Haram and the ISWAP “have mobilized fighters and they have sophisticated weapons like Rocket-propelled Grenade (RPG) launchers, Anti-Aircraft (AA) guns, General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGS)”, and other deadly weapons.
